What Is the Ogre Emoji?
The ogre emoji is a Unicode character officially named Ogre, represented by the code point U+1F9CC. It was added to the Unicode Standard in 2020 as part of Unicode 13.0.
An ogre is a mythical creature that appears in folklore and fantasy literature. Ogres are commonly portrayed as large, powerful beings with frightening features, although their personalities vary across stories.
The emoji brings this traditional creature into digital communication. It can appear in messages, captions, comments, usernames, and discussions about fantasy entertainment.
What Does the Ogre Emoji Look Like?
The ogre emoji generally depicts a green, monster-like face with a broad nose, prominent eyebrows, and small tusk-like features. The exact design depends on the operating system, application, or platform displaying it.
For example, an emoji on an Apple device may look slightly different from the same emoji on an Android phone or a Windows computer. These differences are normal and do not change its underlying Unicode identity.

What Does the Ogre Emoji Mean in Texting?
The ogre emoji can communicate different feelings depending on the words around it. Here are its most common interpretations.
1. Looking Scary or Unusual
Someone might use 🧌 when describing a frightening face, a messy appearance, or a monster-like character.
Example:
“I just saw my face after waking up 🧌”
In this context, the emoji makes the message humorous rather than genuinely frightening.
2. Acting Grumpy or Unfriendly
Ogres are often imagined as intimidating or unpleasant creatures. Because of this association, the emoji can represent someone who is in a bad mood or behaving rudely.
Example:

“You ate the last slice of pizza? You absolute ogre 🧌😂”

4. Talking About Fantasy Stories
The emoji can also refer to mythical creatures, fantasy adventures, magical kingdoms, or monster characters.
Example:
“Our next adventure needs an ogre boss 🧌⚔️”
In this message, it represents a fantasy creature rather than a person’s mood.
5. Describing a Monster-Like Character
